Fantastic way to save!

I absolutely love the Residential EV Charging Optimization! The Smart Charging Dashboard is so easy to use and I've already received a significant managed charging reward on my utility bill. My car charges efficiently every night without me having to do anything special. It's such a smart system for EV owners and really makes a difference in my monthly costs. I'm telling all my friends with EVs about this program!

Smart Charging Works, Some Hiccups

I enrolled my EV in the Residential EV Charging Optimization program a few months ago. The off-peak charging incentive is great; I've already seen savings on my electricity bill. Connecting my car was mostly straightforward, though it took a couple of tries to sync everything correctly. Customer service was helpful when I called about a minor issue with the dashboard display. Overall, a solid service, but the initial setup could be a touch smoother.

Super simple and saves money

So I finally got around to signing up for the Utility Program Enrollment thingy, mainly for the off-peak charging incentive. Honestly, it was way easier than I thought. Just put in my car details and utility info, and boom, it was connected. My car charges when electricity is cheaper, which is cool. I'm already seeing the bill credits. It's nice to not even think about it, just plug in and it does its thing. Definitely recommend if your utility works with them.

Good Program, Easy Setup

Signed up for the Managed Charging Program. Setup was quick. Got the enrollment bonus credited to my bill. It works well, charging my car during off-peak hours.

is there any kind of signup bonus or promo code for new users? or is it just the regular savings?

K Kate 1 month ago
They don't do promo codes like a regular store. It's usually a one-time enrollment bonus or bill credit that your utility offers through them. Check with your electric company's website to see what's available.

I got a $50 enrollment bonus when I signed up last summer. It wasn't a code, it just showed up on my electricity bill after a month or two. They usually just do utility-funded stuff.

can I still charge whenever I want? or does WeaveGrid totally take over and only charge at weird times?

D David Brooks 2 months ago
You can override it! It tries to optimize for off-peak but if you need to charge ASAP, you just tell it to. I do it sometimes if I forgot to plug in and need a full battery fast.

It's pretty smart about it. Most of the time it just does its thing in the background. I've only had to manually override it a couple of times when we had unexpected travel plans.

anybody know how this compares to Optiwatt? I'm trying to decide between a few of these apps.

R Renee Kim 1 month ago
I used Optiwatt before switching to WeaveGrid. WeaveGrid seemed to have better incentives with my utility, so I went with them. Functionality-wise, they're pretty similar for basic managed charging.

My buddy uses Optiwatt and likes it, but I picked WeaveGrid because my utility company specifically promoted their program. Felt more integrated with my actual bill, you know?

do I need a special charger for this to work? or just my regular home EV charger?

T Todd Osei 2 months ago
Nah, just your regular home charger. It connects to your car's system, not your charger directly. Like, my Tesla just linked right up.

I have a different EV, not a Tesla, but it worked fine with my plain old Level 2 charger. You just need to make sure your specific car model is compatible, they have a list somewhere.

hey, is this WeaveGrid thing actually legit? seen some ads but seems almost too good to be true, like free money for charging my EV.

L Laura Lindqvist 2 months ago
Yeah, it's legit. My utility partners with them, I get a credit every month. It's not a huge amount but it adds up over the year.

I was skeptical too but I signed up last fall. They work with your power company directly, so it's not some random scam. I think I got like a $75 bonus just for joining, then the monthly credits.

my buddy lives in like, rural Ohio. will this work for him? or is it just for big cities?

C Cleo 2 months ago
It depends on his electric company, not where he lives. They partner with specific utilities across the US. He'd have to check if his utility is on their list.

L Lisa 2 months ago
Yeah, I'm in a pretty suburban area and it works for me because my utility is a partner. Your buddy needs to check the 'which utilities work with WeaveGrid' section on their site.
